I'm a freelance illustrator, designer and artist, living and working in Auckland, New Zealand.

I have been commissioned extensively in the educational publishing field but my first love is illustrating children's picture books.

I also enjoy designing patterns for paper and textiles using New Zealand plants and animals as one of my main inspirations. Other inspirations include handcrafts, ethnic and vintage textiles and architecture, and plants and animals from around the world.

I employ many styles of illustration ranging from those that use just paint such as watercolour and acrylic, or ink, pencils and pens, and collage, including tissue paper collage, to completely digital styles. I like to combine these in different ways depending on what sort of illustration is required.

I particularly delight in playing around with colour and different colour combinations.

Apart from illustration, I keep busy reading, gardening organically, walking in the New Zealand bush or on one of our beautiful beaches, photography, crafting such as knitting, crochet and sewing, sketching, painting pictures and looking after three tyrannical cats.
